Money in Politics

Until such time as Citizens United can be overturned, and even once it has, we need a way to severely limit the amount of influence rich citizens, foreign nationals, corporations and religions have in our elections. The only way to do that is to make it burdensome, both in paperwork/tracking and financially.

Proposed Laws:

Until we can pass Constitutional amendments, we need laws such as the ones below.

No member of Congress shall engage in trading of individual stocks or digital currency during their term and for a period of three (3) years after their terms expire.

Members of Congress are prohibited from accepting a paid lobbyist or paid consultant position in any branch of government for five (5) years after their terms expire.

The President, Vice President and all Agency heads shall not engage in trading of individual stocks or digital currency during their terms and for a period of three (3) years after their terms expire. They are also prohibited from accepting a paid lobbyist or paid consultant position in any branch of government for ten (10) years after their terms expire.

FEC - Change the maximum election cycle donation per candidate to $10,000 for individuals, corporations, PACs and super PACs. The PAC $10,000 limit includes all PACs combined, not $10,000 per PAC. (e.g. $2,000 to a total of 5 PACs or $10,000 to one.)

Crytocurrency may not be used for any donation to or by a candidate, PAC or super PAC.

Donations by foreign nationals and/or businesses are strictly prohibited.

Tax Code

1. Any amount up to and including the $10,000 per candidate or PAC/super PAC is tax-deductible.

2. Any donated amount above the $10,000 limit is taxed at 100%. For example, a billionaire wants to donate $250,000 to a super PAC, they have also will have a tax burden of $240,000.

3. Any amount spent by a PAC or super PAC, be it for-profit, non-profit, or religious, on advertising for a party or candidate, including, but not limited to, television, radio, social media, print or influencers, is taxed at 100%. Use of cryptocurrency to pay for advertising is taxed at 150%.

4. Any monies earned from political advertising by an individual, company or corporation is taxed at 50%.

5. Any amount over $10,000 donated by a PAC to a candidate during an election cycle is taxed at 100%.

6. PACs may not donate to other PACs.
